Proton also showed off a highly tuned version of its Satria Neo hatchback. Called the R3 Concept, the supermini featured a tuned 1.6-litre engine which produces 200bhp and 200Nm, which is connected to a close-ratio gearbox.
Upgraded AP brakes, Ohlins coil over suspension and a set of lightweight 15-inch alloys wrapped in semi-slick Bridgestone tyres also make an appearance. On the inside, the motorsport theme continues with a rollcage, racing seats and harnesses.
There are no plans to build the R3 yet. However, Proton is currently evaluating whether to spend more on its IRC rally effort, run by Brit team Mellors Elliot Motorsport. If this gets the go-ahead, expect a hot road-going model to follow to take on the VW Polo GTI and forthcoming FordFiestaST. For more details click here.
