It is not uncommon to see photos of a car a few days before their official unveiling, but official shots of the Mercedes C-Class sedan leaked on the web a couple weeks before its official unveiling at the Detroit Auto Show. Now, photos have just popped up from the brochure for the C-Class Coupe, set to be unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show in March. If this trend continues, by the end of the year we can expect to see leaked photos of cars before Mercedes even designs them.
The C-Class Coupe uses the front end from the newly reskinned sedan but from the A-pillar to the rear bumper it looks to be a clean sheet redesign of the sheet metal. The interior also looks to be carried over from the new C sedan as well but with obvious variations to accommodate the lack of rear doors.
There is no official word yet on possible powertrain choices for the Coupe version of the entry-level Mercedes but we suspect it will be similar to the coupe with the 228-horspwer V-6 and 300-horsepower direct-injection V-6. The new direct-injection turbocharged I-4 is a possibility, but may depend on demand. The introduction of an M3 fighting C63 AMG Coupe is a given and Black Series C-Class Coupe prototypes have also been spotted testing.
