all New Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG F1

Mercedes-Benz is recognized around the world as the ultimate German luxury car manufacturer and has a long established history among car buyers. Over the year the company has built its reputation by building some of the most outstanding luxury sedans and luxury sports cars ever made. We have taken a look at the manufacturer's current automotive lineup to discover the company's best models today.

While composing this list we decided that we absolutely could not leave out the manufacturers stunning and impressive supercar, the SLS AMG. This car was styled after the classic Mercedes Gullwing and contains the traditional Gullwing style doors which open up instead of out to the side like a normal car. This is the ultimate Mercedes-Benz sports car and costs the ultimate price at a base price of $183,000. We realize this is not a practical price for most consumers, but then again no Mercedes-Benz is priced at a practical price for most consumers. Under the hood the car hides a V8 engine which produces 563 horsepower at 6800 rpm. This is a huge number and is one of the highest rated outputs of any V8 engine we have ever seen on a production car.

Mercedes immediately picked up a lot of recognition for this model when it was first unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show in Germany. Although it's not technically out on the road yet, it is already the safety car for the Formula One Championship series, and it is also already featured in the PlayStation 3 videogame Gran Turismo 5.

The design of the SLS AMG is supposedly an update to one of the Mercedes' all-time models in the 300SL Gullwing. The short body of this car and the passenger placement nearer the real axle make it both compact and easier to handle at higher speeds than other similar models. The wing door set-up is akin to Lamborghini's (or Benz's Gullwing) doors; and the doors are fully detachable.
