Paris Show 2010 Highlights: 2011 Opel/Vauxhall Astra ST

The Vauxhall Astra Sport Tourer debuts at the Paris Motor Show. And it's good news for buyers awaiting the arrival of Vauxhall’s practical estate. The firm has announced that the estate will start at £16,575 when it goes on sale later this year, making it over £500 cheaper than the car it replaces.

The entry-level ES model is powered by a 99bhp 1.4-litre petrol engine, making it 10bhp more powerful than the car it replaces. What’s more, Vauxhall has gone to town with the standard equipment, with all cars getting air conditioning, ESP, curtain airbags and an electric handbrake.

The diesel range starts with the £18,665 1.7 CDTi ES Sports Tourer. It costs less than the outgoing 89bhp 1.3 CDTi Astra Estate Life, yet has more power and sub-120g/km CO2 emissions.

Four trim levels will be offered - ES, Exclusiv, SE and SRi – and all Sport Tourers are built at Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port plant. For more details click here.
