Peugeot has released all the stats that matter for its classy Mondeo rival, the 508. We’ve already had the opportunity to check out the sleek replacement for both the 407 and 607 when official images were released back in July, but it’s not until its official launch at the Paris Motor Show that we’ve known what’s going on under the skin.
With power outputs ranging from 112-204bhp, five diesels and three petrols are offer. The range begins with the new 1.6 e-HDi fitted with stop-start technology and CO2 emissions of just 109 g/km, while the most-powerful engine in the range is the new 204bhp 2.2-litre HDi, which offers a level of performance worthy of a V6 diesel but with CO2 emissions reduced by around 30 per cent.
Other choices include a 2.0 HDi with either 140bhp or 163bhp, plus a 1.6-litre petrol in naturally aspirated or turbocharged form with 120bhp or 156bhp respectively.
The line up will also eventually include HYbrid4 technology which will combine a diesel engine with an electric motor for 200bhp, four-wheel drive and CO2 emissions of just 99 g/km.
Available in two body styles, saloon and SW estate, the 508’s UK launch is scheduled for Spring 2011. For more details click here.
